ResultsOn a night where we learned about trigonometry, Al and Bill’s troubled teenage years, Chris’s wicked duplicity and Matty’s bruised anatomy, the victor was road cycling. More specifically: Al Bontjer, Mitch Flynn, Sean Whitfield, Tom Clarke and Kylie Billmann. Despite their superior road safety awareness, the V-Mobile/Amy Gillett Foundation team were not successful. Next Thursday is the final race of the series. We will have a bottle of Silent Range Estate for the top three point-scorers ineach grade (or their parents). The catch is that riders must be present to claim their prize. If not it will go to the next best placed rider. For example if you finish fourth on points and third place is not there, you will get the wine. There will also be some race director’s special prizes, and I am looking for nominations for the SuperDomestique of the series. Please email me to nominate someone. Thanks to the race director Matty Menz, to Bill Laing for mentoring our new riders and to the 31 competitors. Welcome to new riders Tom Clarke and Michael Scanlan who both demonstrated a natural ability for cycling in F grade. C GRADE D GRADE E GRADE F GRADE WOMEN’S C GRADE Women’s C and Men’s F grades
New riders are welcome!: We have three ride licences if you want to try things out. PLUS coaches and helpers will be present to guide new riders for a fun and safe race for all. Dropped riders: In WC and Men’s F, dropped riders are allowed to get back onto the back of the bunch so long as they don't influence the race or contest the sprint, so you can challenge yourself against strong riders and still get value for your money. Qualifying for F grade: As F grade is a new for us, we’ll need to use our judgment in the first weeks, plus we’ll be relying on rider’s own judgement. New riders and riders who tend to finish in the lower half of men’s E on Wednesdays are welcome. If you are too strong for the field we’ll suggest that you step up a grade! Men’s C, D, E grades
Women: You are not only welcomed, but encouraged! Dropped riders: May NOT rejoin the bunch in this race but are encouraged to finish their race. If you are lapped, please allow the catching group to pass easily and safely. Pointcore: Points will be awarded for the top five placers in each grade: 16, 12, 8, 6, 4. All riders who finish the race will receive 2 points. |
