Please note the time change to 8:30am due to a clash with a Vets event over the same course. http://www.vikingscyclingforum.org.au/forum/showthread.php?p=13330#post13330 Long has the question remained – who is the better time-triallist: Cyclists or Triathletes? On March 28th, you have the power to answer this question. Triathletes – NOW is your chance to finally get one back on the jibes about your bike handling skills! ResultsPerfect conditions greeted the 41 competitors willing to take on one of the toughest ITT courses Canberra has to offer. Only one rider flew the flag for the Triathletes, but with the Mont running on the same time the next race should bring a few more triathletes out to post competitive times. In the end the Cyclists dominated the results, with Graeme Allbon and Michael Tolhurst setting the benchmark to beat. In the end Micheal Tolhurst took the victory, with a blistering 31 minutes flat over the course that includes 2 of the 3 sisters. A sub 30 minute ride from the men may be on the horizon given optimal conditions. TT specialist Bec Doolan has set the mark for the women with a 35:02 ride that will be tough to beat and Sue Powell honed her craft ahead of her upcoming championship events. Tandem riders Kerry Knowler and Beijing paralympic medallist Lindi Hau have also posted a tandem time of 40:24 which is likely to only be beaten by themselves! I will release graded results shortly and can those people that were held up at the turn around waletting Vets bunches pass please contact me and I shall adjust your time accordingly. Huge thanks to my marshalls that stepped in at the last minute - Avi Vasudeva and Matt Menz, Mark Stevo for yet again hauling the Club Trailer out, John Whitfield for assiting with finish timing and providing great shade with the Wild van and all the competitors that left everything they had in their legs on the course today. For any riders that did miss out on the race today - you can still enter the series and will still be able to take advantage of the discounted ride pass that the ACTCF have offered. There will also be prizes awarded in the final race for most improved, as well as fastest individual times etc. Any queries on timing please post here or send a mail to jyoung80@gmail.com. Vikings Cycling Club, in conjunction with the ACT Cycling Federation are introducing a 3 part ITT series to determine which of the codes – Triathlon or Cycling – holds the fastest Time Triallist. The fastest male and female time from the 3 race series will have their name, and “team” engraved on the perpetual trophy, as well as bragging rights for an entire year! With a challenging course, set in the rolling hills on Uriarra Road, the stage is set for an exciting showdown between the two codes . The ACT Cycling Federation has also generously dropped the fees charged on a 3-Ride pass for this event – so triathletes wishing to enter the 3 ride series only need pay $48 for 3 events. If you currently already hold a CA license then you may enter as per any club race. Some points:
First Cyclist and First Triathlete to correctly tell me the names of all four riders pictured on the poster will receive 1 free entry to a race in the series. (Non CA member becomes $43 entry) Registration will be held at the entry to Stromlo Forest Park from 7:45am onwards with an 8:30 am start. If Non-CA members could please contact jyoung80@gmail.com prior to arrival it would be greatly appreciated to get an idea on required numbers for the 3-Ride licences. |
