What: VCC Bunch Ride – all welcome

Where: All club bunch rides leave from the ANU Union Court Bridge, corner of North Rd and Union Ct. Enter the ANU from Barry Drive, take the first left, continue about 100m past the Sports and Recreation centre.

When: Fridays. Meet at 6am and expect to return to the ANU by 7:15am.

Distance: ~30 – 40 kms

Ability: There are usually three groups catering for all levels of experience: Fast, Medium and Novice/Newbie groups.

Novice/Newbie bunch

The idea of this group is a friendly and safe introduction to group riding. It’s all about good bunch riding form – talking, pointing things out and obeying road rules. The pace will be relatively slow so that no-one gets dropped, but there will be four sprints thrown in for those who have itchy legs. After each sprint we’ll regroup and continue on our way.

Each week there will be at least one experienced rider leading the ride. They’ll be there to give tips, make sure no-one gets left behind and to ride with any new riders or just those lacking in confidence.

The rules are:

  • Everyone is there to help each other.
  • No-one gets left behind.
  • You can hammer it as hard as you want for the sprints, but always regroup afterwards.
  • Sprint safely – hold your lines and be smooth.
  • Obey road rules – safety always come before anything else.

New riders are always welcome. Just turn up and introduce yourself so the ride leaders can have a bit of a chat with you about how it all works. See you there!
